Oxbow Farm Manderson Wyoming
The Oxbow is located just south of Manderson along the Bighorn River in Bighorn County. This 250 acre irrigated farm is nearly 150 acres cultivated ground with the remainder in river bottom pasture. The Bighorn River creates a wide, sweeping boundary on the east and north ends of the farm and its water is supplied from the Bluff Canal and Alamo Creek on the property. This is an area of large productive farms with reliable water. Currently crops being produced are barley, corn, and alfalfa. Mild winters and an abundant feed source creates the demand for the large number of livestock wintering in the area.
The nearly two miles of river frontage and productive agriculture on the farm makes this farm a wildlife haven. Its location makes it a private and protected area for wildlife and waterfowl. The waterfowl population is among the highest in the area with numbers skyrocketing during migrations. Waterfowl species are too numerous to name and the farm supports a large population of pheasants as well. Mule deer and Whitetail populations thrive along the corridor and numerous trophy quality animals have been taken. The fishery is spectacular with sauger and pike being two of the species sought after along with other warm water fish. Alamo Creek joins the Bighorn River on the property and adds more quality fishing.
The Oxbow is near the towns of Basin and Greybull and about an hours drive from Cody Wyoming, and two hours from Billings Montana. It sits in the Bighorn Basin near the western slope of the fabulous Bighorn Mountains and not far from the eastern side of the Absorka and Beartooth Mountains. From the mild climate of the basin to the high alpine mountains is less than an hour travel time. Mild climate, great location and quality recreational amenities make this an outstanding farm for a family legacy.
