Pueblo County - County Road 701, Walsenburg, CO
The 4,600 acre Point Pasture represents a unique and rugged portion of the historic Hermosilla Ranch. The Ranch can trace its origins back to an original Spanish Land Grant. Originally settled by Captain William Craig in the 1860's and later purchased by Civil War General Benjamin Butler, the ranch has a long history of farming and cattle operations.
The Point Pastureis framed by a flat top mesa at the confluence of the Huerfano and Cucharas River Canyons with dramatic and sweeping views of the canyon rims and river drainage below. The land offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop and carefully design a legacy property for ranching, recreation, conservation, or hunting pursuits. Step back in time as you explore some of the most wild and untouched canyon country in Southeastern Colorado. The land is not only visually stunning but these canyons have a rich and colorful history. The Ranch lies within the broad Chaquaqua Plateau which stretches through Southeastern Colorado. Native Americans and earlier hunter gatherer cultures such as the Apishapa called these canyons home and evidence of habitation can be found in the form of rock drawings, tipi circles, and cave shelters. The Apishapa lived on the canyon walls and farmed on the canyon floor.

History
Beulah, Colorado, was First Settled as Fisher's Hole in 1840s, but its notorious history began as Mace's Hole, a bandit hideout for Juan Mace in the 1850s.
The town was officially renamed Beulah in 1876 after a local preacher suggested the biblical name, meaning married, as a more wholesome alternative. Later, Beulah became known as a quiet ranching community and a summer resort, famous for its red marble, which was used in the Colorado State Capitol.
Early history: The area was originally inhabited by Native American tribes before being rediscovered by settlers in the 1840s and named Fisher's Hole by trapper Robert Fiser.
Mace's Hole era: In the 1850s, the name was changed to Mace's Hole after Juan Mace, a cattle rustler who used the valley as a hideout. The area was also a temporary base for Confederate troops.
Renaming to Beulah: A local preacher proposed the biblical name Beulah, meaning married, and the name stuck. On October 25, 1876, the Post Office was officially renamed Beulah.
Mining and resort development: Beulah developed into a quiet ranching community, and later, a summer resort. In the 1880s and 1890s, Beulah red marble was quarried and used in the construction of the Colorado State Capitol.
Modern era: Beulah remains a small community today, known for its tranquil atmosphere, ranching, and recreational opportunities in the surrounding Pueblo Mountain Park.
